The below job description will outline this position of:  Electrical Engineer

 

Typically, this person will be involved in planned and unplanned maintenance of marine vessels.

 

HSB Technical’s client is a very established and well-regarded business entity.

Duties and responsibilities of the Electrical Engineer:

  • Uphold compliance with all Health and Safety regulations, ensuring adherence to current legislation as well as the Company’s Health and Safety Policy and practices.
  • Support Senior Marine Engineers in overseeing and coordinating on-shift engineers to guarantee optimal service delivery.
  • Lead the technical advancement of vessels and facilities, focusing on achieving the most efficient and effective operations.
  • Perform servicing and maintenance of all electrical systems aboard UBTC vessels and within engineering facilities.
  • Record and report all faults, maintenance work, and repairs accurately within the compliance system.
  • Conduct comprehensive safety checks on electrical systems for all UBTC vessels, ensuring compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
  • Maximise vessel availability and operational readiness by prioritising effective maintenance, especially during periods of lower activity.
  • Execute planned and reactive maintenance tasks on vessels, responding promptly to reasonable additional support requests as necessary.
  • Collaborate with the senior engineering team to identify, implement, and evaluate technical upgrades to the fleet and engineering facilities, providing detailed technical analyses and reports as directed by the Head of Engineering and Vessel Appearance.
  • Undertake any additional duties or reasonable requests as assigned by the Head of Department or members of senior management.

Qualifications and requirement for the Electrical Engineer:

  • Certified electrician or electrical engineer.
  • This would suit someone from a marine background, Marine Electrician or ETO. Other backgrounds will be considered. 
  • Familiarity with British Standards Wiring Regulations or equivalent.
  • Hands-on experience with 12V, 24V, and 415V 3-phase electrical systems.
  • Practical knowledge of engine-powered generation systems.
  • Proficient in HVAC systems and maintenance.
