About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Lead Electrical Engineer to oversee electrical systems within commercial high end building in the City of London.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage a team of electrical engineers and technicians.

  • Oversee the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, fire alarms, and control panels.

  • Conduct routine inspections and testing to ensure compliance with health, safety, and building regulations.

  • Develop and implement planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedules.

  • Respond to emergency electrical faults and implement effective solutions.

  • Ensure all work is completed in accordance with industry standards and regulatory requirements (e.g., BS 7671, IET Wiring Regulations, Health & Safety at Work Act).

  • Coordinate with contractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to manage projects efficiently.

  • Keep detailed maintenance records and prepare reports for management.

  • Provide technical guidance and training to junior engineers and apprentices.

  • Identify opportunities for energy efficiency improvements and cost-saving initiatives.

Required Skills & Experience
  • Qualified Electrician with relevant industry certifications (e.g., NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds 2360/2330/2382 (18th Edition), AM2, or equivalent).

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar role within the building maintenance or facilities management sector.

  • Experience leading a team in a fast-paced, commercial environment.

  • Strong understanding of electrical regulations, risk assessments, and safe working practices.

  • Proven ability to diagnose electrical faults and conduct repairs efficiently.

  • Familiarity with BMS (Building Management Systems) and emergency lighting systems.

  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Desirable Qualifications & Certifications
  • Electrical qualififcation (Level 3 or equivalent)

  • 18th Edition Essential
