Role:

This is an exciting opportunity for a Building Services Principal Electrical Engineer with a leading International multi-disciplinary design consultancy in Central London.They are one of the UKs Top Employers for 5 years in a row according to Top Employer Institute.Their multi-disciplined team includes MEP (30 strong), Environmental Design & Sustainability, VT, and Architectural Design Lighting.They are involved in high profile and prestigious projects all over the world across a variety of sectors so the role may involve some travel.

Responsibilities:

Full time role reporting to the team leader / partner.

Undertake and deliver high quality detailed engineering design for electrical building services and power distribution systems, including calculations, analysis, schematics, drawings, diagrams, models, specifications, and other documents required.

Apply relevant legislation, standards, regulations, guides and good practise for UK and International projects.

Take responsibility for specific areas of the design and project development. Lead electrical engineering design for small and medium sized projects.

Seek, complete and record evidence of, continuing professional development (CPD) in accordance with the requirements of the relevant professional Institution.

Represent the company in professional and diligent manner at all times, attend meetings with client, project team, contractors etc.

Communicate design concepts and detailed solutions to a varied audience including engineers, architects, contractors and client representatives both in report form and verbally in presentations.

Manage multiple projects, delegate work and supervise junior engineers in the team.

Act as a mentor for the practice Graduate Training Scheme.

Skills:

Essential:

Electrical engineering, Building Services/Engineering related degree or related experience with electrical bias.

Fluent English (Spoken and Written).

Qualified as a Chartered Engineer or in final stage of registering (or validated Overseas equivalent).

Solid technical understanding of own core engineering discipline and the role of the electrical engineer within the design team.

Broad understanding of other engineering disciplines engaged in the design of the built environment.

Good understanding of UK Building Regulations and industry standard design reference material.

Ability to use initiative in response to demands of project.

Able to present, negotiate and communicate well in graphical, written or verbal forms including ability to listen and to understand others.

Ability to understand and formulate design decisions.

A flexible and open attitude towards new ways of working and a proven commitment to independent, lifelong learning.

Self-organized and motivated.

Developed problem-solving and analytical skills.

Good interpersonal skills and able to work independently and as part of an effective team

Able to build good relationships at all levels, internally and externally.

Resilient to cope with conflicting demands, able to prioritise duties and work effectively under pressure.

Ability to use general and engineering and construction specific software for design and analysis including BIM, electrical engineering, lighting design eg. Autodesk Revit, Trimble ProDesign, Dialux.

Desirable:

International project experience.

Familiar with LEED, WELL environmental assessment methods.

Second language.
