Senior Electrical Engineer required for a major offshore wind developer based in England

Responsibilities

  • Supporting the Head of Technical and Transmission Package Manager on the delivery of FEED/detailed design scopes.
  • Technical review of electrical system package (onshore and offshore) contractor's documentation
  • Preparation and response to Technical Queries
  • Design and development of electrical transmission system for offshore wind power plants.
  • Technical assessment of grid code requirements and grid compliance verification.
  • Modelling and simulating power systems for offshore wind power, including energisation studies, harmonics and zero-missing phenomena.
  • Technical specifications of high voltage equipment for transmission systems. Responsible for the identification of any design changes as a result of a variation to the contract(s) arising within his scope of work.
  • Contribute to the development of Design Requirements, Design Decisions/KDS.
  • Attending design coordination/review meetings at contractor's and third party's offices.
  • Preparation of technical papers/slides and presentation to management team, as required.
  • Contribute to design reviews associated with Project Governance activities.
  • Assisting the Package Manager in preparation of detailed work planning and the subsequent reporting of work progress, including MoM and action tracker.
  • Facilitating interfaces between Contractors and coordination between disciplines and other Packages

Requirements

  • Degree qualified electrical engineer with considerable experience and knowledge of electrical system design for offshore wind projects.
  • Familiar with offshore standards, standards associated with grid connected power projects, key aspects of the UK regulatory regime such as the Grid Code and the wider offshore wind industry.
  • Have experience in power systems engineering for renewable energy generation projects, including knowledge about power systems, grid integration and system dynamics.
  • Are proficient in PowerFactory, and PSCAD for modelling and simulation of transmission systems and renewable energy generators.
  • The successful candidate will be required to demonstrate that they have the following capabilities:
  • Excellent skills to technically evaluate potentially complex designs and equipment
  • Excellent communication skills including report writing, presentation and the ability to communicate effectively with clients, contractors and consultants
  • The ability to manage own workload and meet demanding timescales
  • The technical skills to understand complex offshore operations and the ability to exchange with and understand subject experts
  • Ability to work as a member of a large, multidisciplinary and international team
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
