Im partnered with an established multidisciplinary consultancy seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to join their growing team in Birmingham or London. This position has been created in response to an increase in Building Services projects, including high-impact collaborations with leading academic institutions. The organization is dedicated to sustainable, low-carbon design, with projects spanning diverse sectors such as emergency services, housing, and education.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design & Compliance: Interpret client requirements and statutory obligations to design comprehensive building services, ensuring all designs meet relevant regulations, company standards, and procedures.
  • Project Documentation: Maintain detailed and accurate documentation, including calculation files, correspondence, and specifications, to support the project lifecycle.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with internal and external design team members in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Technical Specifications & Drawings: Prepare detailed specifications, drawings, and schedules for electrical services to clearly convey design requirements.
  • Quality Assurance: Review and verify designs, including those completed by Engineers and Assistant Engineers, to maintain quality and regulatory compliance.
  • Site Surveys & Testing: Conduct site surveys, commissioning, and testing to validate design solutions and address on-site requirements.
  • Financial Estimation: Prepare budget estimates, cost plans, tender documents, and contract arrangements to support project delivery.
  • Project Meetings: Attend project and technical meetings to ensure alignment between design, implementation, and client expectations.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will bring a forward-thinking, proactive approach to delivering electrical engineering services, contributing to a well-established Building Services and Environmental team with a strong commitment to sustainability.

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Industry Experience: 5+ years in Building Services Engineering.
  • Professional Membership: Membership with IET or CIBSE, or demonstrable equivalent knowledge and competence.
  • Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with relevant software, including AMTECH and Dialux.

Desirable Skills and Experience

  • Educational Background: Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field; Chartered Engineer (CEng) status is highly desirable.
  • Specialized Project Experience: Experience with Healthcare/NHS projects is advantageous.
  • Surveying and Reporting: Capability to conduct condition surveys and produce comprehensive reports.
