Engineers and scientists at this company are recruited directly from industry and, following a period of familiarisation, investigate and determine the causes of electrical failures both in the UK and internationally. They are frequently engaged by clients, insurers, legal firms, and loss adjusters to identify root causes, resolve claims, and improve safety and efficiency.

The company’s expertise spans manufacturing, power and energy, shipping/marine, automotive, aerospace, technology, civil, building engineering, and construction.

The Role

This position will enable you to apply your electrical engineering knowledge to a diverse and technically challenging range of topics. Assignments vary from component-level analysis to system-wide investigations, tailored to your specific expertise. Typical responsibilities include:

•Investigating failures in building services systems, transformers, generators, and switchgear.

•Analyzing failures in electricity transmission and distribution equipment.

•Examining malfunctioning control systems.

•Investigating electrical equipment failures resulting in injury.

•Assessing product designs for potential or actual failures.

The role also provides the opportunity to become an expert witness, with additional training available to prepare you for this pathway.

You will work within a collaborative team of electrical engineering specialists, each with unique skills and strengths. Technical support and guidance are always on hand when needed.

Your Profile

To excel in this role, you should have:

•A strong technical background in electrical engineering, gained in sectors such as building services, manufacturing, automation, aerospace, or automotive.

•Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with lateral thinking and a high level of natural curiosity.

•A 2:1 honours degree (or above) in electrical engineering. Chartered Engineer status is preferred, but candidates close to achieving this will also be considered.

•Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
