We are seeking an experienced and driven Critical Shift Maintenance Technician to join my client's specialist team supporting a high-profile Data Centre environment. This role requires a skilled engineer with strong electrical and mechanical competencies, comfortable working in a fast-paced, mission-critical setting where uptime and reliability are paramount.

You will be responsible for maintaining and operating all electrical and mechanical installations, infrastructure, and building services across the data centre, ensuring compliance, safety, and optimal performance at all times.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver both electrical and mechanical planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance across all critical systems and infrastructure.
  • Carry out fault-finding, repairs, and upgrades on key systems including:
    • HV/LV electrical systems
    • UPS & generator systems
    • Cooling systems (CRAC/CRAH units)
    • Chillers, pumps, and HVAC infrastructure
    • BMS, fire alarms, lighting, and power distribution
  • Ensure critical environment operational procedures and escalation protocols are adhered to.
  • Support and coordinate with specialist contractors and vendors on-site.
  • Monitor and maintain building compliance, statutory testing, and site logs.
  • Respond swiftly and effectively to any emergency incidents or alarms.
  • Maintain a strong focus on health & safety, risk assessments, and permit-to-work systems.
  • Provide clear shift handovers and maintain detailed operational records.
Key Requirements:
  • Recognised qualifications in electrical or mechanical engineering (City & Guilds/NVQ Level 3 or equivalent).
  • 18th Edition Electrical Wiring Regulations (for electrical candidates).
  • Proven experience working in a critical environment (Data Centres, Banking, Healthcare, or similar).
  • Strong knowledge of both electrical and mechanical systems.
  • HV Authorisation advantageous (training can be provided).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Flexibility to work continental shift pattern (days & nights, 12-hour shifts).
