  • The day shift runs from 7.15 AM to 3.15 PM Monday to Thursday and 7.15 AM to 12.15 PM on Fridays, with overtime available outside these hours.

Our client in the rail industry are looking to recruit a number of Rolling Stock Mechanical and Electrical Fitters for an overhaul project based at Acton Works (West London).

We are looking to recruit Fitters with any of the following predominant skills:

  • Doors
  • Electrical
  • Mechanical
  • Bogies
  • Welding (TIG aluminium).

You should have a level 3 qualification or equivalent experience.

The Central Line Improvement Project (CLIP) will replace the current DC motors with new AC motors; replace the on-board computer; repair floor corrosion damage, door pillar cracking and water ingress; provide wheelchair access & RVAR information systems; install CCTV & LED lighting. The overhaul will allow the stock to operate until their planned replacement in 2029-32.

The day shift at Acton is 7.15-3.15 Mon- Thurs then 7.15 to 12.15 on Fridays. Anything outside of these hours is considered OT (time and a quarter).

Skills/ Experience:

  • Must be able to read and follow detailed work instructions, installation and assembly drawings, be familiar with general hand tools and power tools.
  • Understand and be able to use basic measuring tools, Vernier, Micrometer and ruler.
  • Must understand how to set and use a Torque Wrench and understand the principles of their use including witness marking.
