We are seeking an experienced Principal Street Lighting Engineer to lead the management, maintenance, and development of street lighting infrastructure across the borough. This role ensures compliance with national and local standards, delivers energy-efficient solutions, and provides strategic leadership in street lighting projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the planning, design, and implementation of street lighting schemes, ensuring compliance with BS 5489, CDM Regulations, and Local Authority policies.
Manage street lighting assets, including LED conversions, CMS (Central Management Systems), and sustainability initiatives.
Oversee inspections, risk assessments, and audits to ensure high safety and quality standards.
Provide technical guidance and support to engineers, contractors, and stakeholders.
Manage budgets, procurement processes, and contracts related to street lighting projects.
Collaborate with transport, highways, and planning teams to integrate lighting with broader infrastructure projects.
Respond to public and councillor enquiries, ensuring effective service delivery and compliance with local policies.
Stay updated on legislative changes and new technologies to enhance the borough's street lighting network.
Person Specification:
Degree/HNC in Electrical, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
Chartered or working towards CEng/IEng with ILP, IET, or ICE.
Strong knowledge of street lighting design, asset management, and energy-efficient technologies.
Experience with AutoCAD, Lighting Reality, Amtech, and GIS systems.
Proven ability to manage projects, budgets, and contractors effectively.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
