About the RoleAs a Senior Engineering Technician, you'll play a vital role in building, deploying, and maintaining advanced R&D instrumentation incorporating fluidics, actuators, pumps, and sensors. You'll collaborate with scientists and engineers, troubleshooting, enhancing performance, and ensuring rigorous quality standards.
Key Responsibilities- Independently plan and manage engineering projects, contributing technical expertise at the onset of initiatives.
- Build, troubleshoot, and deploy sophisticated instrumentation, including microfluidics, temperature control, pneumatics, pumps, and sensors.
- Proactively improve the reliability and performance of R&D devices through maintenance and fault-tracking strategies.
- Assemble and prototype components using mechanical workshop tools and techniques such as laser cutting, 3D printing, and CNC milling.
- Interface with software systems controlling R&D devices.
- Maintain parts inventory, ensuring efficient procurement and stock management.
- Draft and maintain documentation such as SOPs, work instructions, and engineering reports within a regulated environment.
- Perform repetitive tasks with precision and minimal supervision.
Essential:
- Degree in Engineering (e.g., Mechanical or Electrical) or a BTech in Engineering.
- Extensive experience as an Engineering Technician in the medical device, IVD, or similar regulated industry.
- Proficient in assembling and maintaining R&D devices, rigs, and fixtures.
- Expertise in preventive maintenance and fault-tracking analysis.
- Skilled in prototyping techniques and tools, including laser cutting, 3D printing, and CNC milling.
- Proficient in soldering and wiring electrical components and sensors.
- Basic CAD skills (SolidWorks) and familiarity with industry-standard fault-tracking tools.
- Strong attention to detail, self-motivation, and ability to work independently.
- Knowledge of Health and Safety at Work legislation.
- Proficiency in drafting technical documentation and using Microsoft Office applications.
