Senior Engineer
Location: West Ham, London
Salary: £45k - £55k per annum + car allowance + benefits package
Role Overview:
The Senior Engineer will be responsible for overseeing and delivering site engineering duties across multiple projects within the region. This includes supervising trainees and site engineers, establishing survey control, and ensuring work is completed safely, to high-quality standards, and in line with contract specifications. The role also involves managing resources, quality checks, and maintaining accurate records.
Key Responsibilities:
- Establish and maintain survey control for contracts
- Set out detailed works according to contract drawings, ensuring regular checks
- Maintain health and safety records and ensure compliance with legal and organisational standards
- Deliver work safely, to specified quality, and without defects
- Assist Site Agent/Sub Agent in optimising work methods and resource usage
- Deputise for the Sub/Site Agent when required
- Conduct quality audits and provide feedback for corrective action
- Ensure availability and accuracy of resources, managing any issues with the Site Agent
- Conduct toolbox talks and issue method statements
- Foster positive working relationships with staff, clients, suppliers, and subcontractors
- Maintain records and correspondence in line with legal and organisational requirements
Key Requirements:
- Experience in setting out civil engineering projects (highways, infrastructure, reinforced concrete)
- Degree/HNC in Civil Engineering or equivalent
- CSCS card, SMSTS, and confined space training
- Proficiency in AutoCAD
- Ability to manage and deliver projects with minimal supervision
- Strong report-writing and record-keeping skills
- Effective communication and problem-solving abilities
