Venn Group is working with a Local Authority in London to recruit an Enterprise Architect to lead the technical development, maintenance and exploitation of the council’s application and solution estate.

The Enterprise Architect will work with an established transformation team to address identified service improvements and collaborate with stakeholders to ensure a cohesive architectural approach.

The Enterprise Architect will be supported by a solution architect from the council's IT service and will be embedded within the transformation programme team.

This role requires 3 days per week in the office.

Responsibilities in post:

  • Produce the overall architectures, topologies and design documentation of solutions, including documented descriptions of the management procedures, the processes, the information flows and the external services
  • Contribute to the top-down design of the Target Operating Model (TOM), working on identified opportunities where digital solutions can drive service improvements
  • Ensure a cohesive architectural approach is adopted in the design of digital changes across workstreams
  • Build cohesive workflows, develop proof of concepts and participate in the selection of technology stacks, frameworks and platforms (ie aspects which determine system solutions)
  • Assist Programme and Project leaders in solution development
  • Monitor development of the commercial market place to determine how IT applications can best be exploited to meet the requirements of the Technology and Digital strategies
  • Translate logical designs into physical designs taking account of the target environment, performance requirements, existing systems, regulatory constraints, budgets
  • Design solutions for problems managing all the tasks and activities involved in the successful implementation
  • Oversee technical risks ensuring that solutions are consistent with meeting requirements. Coordinate ongoing activities and translate design concepts into IT operations.

Desired skills and experience:

  • Experience defining current and target state architectures, transition architectures and roadmaps
  • Strong organisational, influencing and communication skills
  • Experience in leveraging digital technologies to enable operating model changes within local government
  • Experience in producing both high- and low-level solution design documentation
  • Strong understanding of the opportunities and threats posed by emerging technologies
  • Knowledge of user-centred service design and enterprise architecture principles
