I am working with a leading contractor who are actively hiring a junior water technician to join their large flagship team, ensuring statutory compliance is met in line with legionella and water health and safety regulations. Duties

  • Conduct regular Legionella risk assessments and ensure all water systems are compliant with L8 ACOP (Approved Code of Practice) standards.
  • Monitor and maintain water systems, including cold water storage tanks, hot water cylinders, and calorifiers, to prevent Legionella bacteria growth.
  • Collect water samples from various outlets, tanks, and systems for laboratory testing.
  • Perform temperature checks on hot and cold water systems to ensure water is within safe parameters.
  • Test for bacteria, contaminants, and chemical levels in the water to ensure it meets safety regulations.
  • Carry out the disinfection and cleaning of water systems, including tanks, pipework, and outlets, to prevent the buildup of bacteria and other harmful organisms.
  • Undertake descaling and cleaning of showers, taps, and other water outlets as part of a preventative maintenance regime.
  • Perform regular flushing of low-use outlets to prevent stagnation and maintain water quality.
  • Maintain accurate records of all water hygiene activities, including testing results, risk assessments, and compliance logs.
  • Compile and provide reports to the Facilities Manager or relevant stakeholders, ensuring documentation for health and safety audits.

Requirements

  • Hands on plumbing maintenance experience in a maintenance capacity
  • NVQ/C&G Level 2 in plumbing / plumbing & heating
  • Knowledge of plant room systems - boilers, calorifiers, heat exchangers, expansion vessels
  • Career driven - desire to learn and build a career within the company
