We are seeking qualified and experiencedEnvironmental Health Officers (EHOs)to provide professional consultancy services on an ad hoc, case-by-case basis. This role focuses primarily on investigating environmental protection issues and delivering comprehensive witness statements for cases involving:
- Mould and damp conditions
- Noise complaints
- Odour issues
- Drainage problems
- Pest infestations
The successful candidates will work independently to conduct site inspections, assess environmental health risks, and compile detailed and legally compliant reports. If required, you will represent clients in court proceedings as an expert witness.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct site inspections to assess environmental protection concerns.
- Prepare thorough and accurate witness statements for use in legal cases.
- Liaise with landlords to advise on corrective actions and compliance.
- Act as an expert witness in court proceedings when necessary.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation, codes of practice, and industry standards.
Requirements
- BSc / MScin Environmental Health or equivalent.
- Registration with theChartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH)or equivalent.
- Proven experience in dealing with environmental protection issues, particularly mould, damp, noise, odour, drainage, and pests.
- Strong understanding of environmental health legislation and case law.
- Exceptional written communication skills for preparing accurate, detailed reports and witness statements.
- Ability to work autonomously and manage caseloads efficiently.
- Availability to travel to locations inLondon,Manchester, andYorkshireas required.
- Own transportation and full clean driving licence
- Experience providing expert witness testimony in legal proceedings.
- Knowledge of the private rental sector and landlord responsibilities.
