We are currently assisting a leading construction contractor with the recruitment of an experienced M&E Design Manager. The role will involve working closely with various stakeholders to ensure that M&E aspects are efficiently managed and delivered on time.
Key Responsibilities:
- Early involvement in the procurement process, reviewing and assessing tender bids from subcontractors to ensure they meet the Employer's Requirements (ERs) and Stage 3 design specifications.
- Working with subcontractors to select the most cost-effective and technically suitable products and services for M&E installations.
- Reviewing and recommending sustainable products and materials for M&E installations, ensuring they are available for long-term maintenance.
- Assessing product specifications, considering environmental impact, and identifying opportunities for cost savings without compromising on quality.
- Promoting sustainable product sourcing and installation practices, contributing to the project's energy efficiency and long-term environmental goals.
- Collaborating with the design team and sustainability consultants to implement green building principles and meet sustainability standards.
- Coordinating with M&E consultants to ensure smooth project execution and effective communication throughout the project lifecycle.
- Organising and leading workshops with subcontractors to address technical issues, project requirements, and concerns.
- Ensuring that the M&E consultant's work complies with planning, building control, and warranty provider requirements.
- Advising on the selection and appointment of M&E consultants, ensuring clear contract terms and scope of work that meet project needs.
- Conducting site visits to monitor subcontractor performance and ensure M&E installations are progressing as planned.
- Reporting on progress, highlighting potential issues, and proposing solutions to keep the project on schedule.
- Managing the RFI process, ensuring all queries from subcontractors and stakeholders are addressed in a timely manner to avoid project delays.
- Overseeing the commissioning process and reviewing documentation to ensure all systems are installed and functioning correctly.
- Ensuring the smooth handover of M&E systems, with all necessary certifications and documentation provided.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
- Solid experience in M&E coordination, preferably within the residential construction sector.
- Proven track record in procurement, tendering, and managing subcontractor relationships.
- Knowledge of building regulations, sustainability standards, and energy-efficient practices.
- Strong communication and organisational skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple teams.
- Experience working with M&E consultants and managing multi-disciplinary teams.
