Senior Flood Risk Consultant 

Location: Remote

Salary: £35,000 to £42,000 (dependant on experience) + bonuses

About the company

Our client is a small but rapidly growing flood risk, water and environment business with an industry recognised leadership team. They are looking to recruit a team member within the flood risk and modelling team after continued success in their existing work and multiple recent project wins.

They are a fully remote team with colleagues situated across the country, including London, Birmingham and Glasgow - but don’t worry, they still provide opportunities to socialise with colleagues throughout the year!

About the Role

They are currently looking for a Senior Flood Risk Consultant who has experience producing Flood Risk Assessments across the country in support of planning applications, for a wide range of development projects.

You will need to have at least 5 years UK consultancy experience working to one or more of the following; NPPF, TAN15, and NPF4. Ability to interpret third party data sets to inform planning decisions relating to flood risk i.e. design flood level. 

They offer opportunities to get involved with a variety of projects, including both public and private sector work. Their current projects include flood defences, strategic infrastructure, and private developments. 

You will become a key member of the existing consulting team, providing support in the delivery of these projects including the production of Flood Risk Assessments and when required Surface Water Drainage Strategies. They offer in-house training via their company academy to allow you to grow into a well-rounded Flood Risk Consultant and explore any specialisms you may be interested in.

As your career progresses, you will be given opportunities to oversee and manage projects and clients.

About You

The successful candidate will have an enthusiasm to develop their career in the water/environment sector. They are looking for someone that is hard-working, well-organised, motivated, enthusiastic, flexible. You will be able to work independently and as part of a distributed team and can communicate effectively both in writing and verbally with colleagues and clients alike.

Qualifications and Experience

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in either Geography or related science, Environmental Management, or Engineering.
  • A minimum of five years industry experience.
  • The ability to write clear, concise, and technically accurate reports using independent and third party data sets. 
  • Desire to mentor and train junior members of the team.
  • Previous experience of interacting with clients to support them with their decision making.
  • GIS experience using software such as ArcMap, QGIS, or MapInfo.

Desirable:

  • Experience using MicroDrainage or other drainage design software
  • Previous exposure to customer services related roles.
  • Knowledge of the drainage hierarchy and experience in undertaking drainage assessments and design. 
  • Ability to use AutoCAD.
