Sustainability Officer - 2 Year Fixed Term role.

We are proud to be working with London Fire Brigade to find a Sustainability Officer, to join them on a 2 year fixed term basis.

  • Location: Fire Brigade Headquarters, SE1 (with occasional travel to other fire stations across London)

We are seeking a Sustainability Officer to join London Fire Brigades Carbon Reduction Team. This role is crucial in assisting with the strategic carbon reduction plan and reporting on energy and carbon usage throughout our estate. The successful candidate will maintain our energy/carbon management databases and provide data intelligence related to energy/carbon performance and targets.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
  • Support the delivery of the carbon reduction programme, ensuring policies related to energy and carbon are developed, implemented, and maintained.
  • Maintain and manage the energy database, providing data and management information for sustainability queries and reporting on the progress of carbon zero targets.
  • Assist with the preparation and monitoring of the annual energy budget, and report on energy and water consumption.
  • Engage with various teams to track carbon emissions and maintain records of fleet and property fuel usage.
  • Work with the carbon reduction team to identify assets that are no longer energy efficient and manage the lifecycle of these assets.
  • Act as the Green Champion for the Department, promoting sustainable practices and compliance with environmental legislation.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Experience of working within a sustainability role to support with carbon reduction programmes
  • Passionate about renewable energy, carbon reduction and sustainability
  • Studied within a relevant field (nice to have)
  • Experience managing complex data sets and providing data-driven insights.
  • Good interpersonal skills and enthusiasm for learning new technical areas.
