Spencer Clarke Group are seeking an Environment Enforcement Team Leader fora Local Authority Client based in Southeast London.

In this role, you will lead a dedicated team to deliver high-quality environmental enforcement services, ensuring the borough remains a safe, clean, and thriving community for all residents.

About the role:

You will be tasked with delivering key strategic objectives:

  • Lead and develop a team of enforcement officers, ensuring high performance, professional guidance, and effective staff development, while promoting equality, inclusion, and health and safety.
  • Oversee licensing processes, investigate breaches of legislation, and take appropriate enforcement actions to maintain a clean, safe, and thriving community in accordance with council policies.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans aligned with council priorities, manage budgets effectively, and work collaboratively with key agencies like the Police, Public Health, and Border Force.
  • Monitor and review service performance, produce management reports, drive continuous improvements, adapt to legislative changes, and secure external funding where possible.

About you:

The successful candidate will have the following skills / experience:

  • Proven experience in conducting property inspections, assessments, or home visits, ideally in a similar role, including dealing with income-related claims and financial assessments.
  • Experience handling customer inquiries at various levels, providing clear advice, and supporting vulnerable or challenging customers effectively.
  • Proficiency in using IT systems and software to manage customer data, update records, and ensure accurate service delivery.
  • Experience working in a team environment, adhering to regulations and policies, and contributing to the identification and implementation of service improvements.

What's on offer:

Salary: £28+ph

*may negotiate higher for exceptional candidates, based on experience*

Contract type: 3-6, months minimum, with a high likelihood of extension
