SCRUTINY OFFICER (PERFORMANCE)

PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS AUTHORITY FOR HEALTH AND SOCIAL CARE

SALARY £46,133 (increasing to £47,747 with effect from 1 April 2025)

What we are looking for:

We are looking for two permanent Scrutiny Officers to join our Performance Review team within the Regulation and Accreditation Directorate.

The Professional Standards Authority (PSA) oversees the work of the ten health and social care professional regulators to ensure their work protects patients. We conduct annual performance reviews of the regulators and can appeal decisions of their fitness to practise panels if we think those decisions are not sufficient to protect the public. We are an independent body, accountable to the UK Parliament. We are a small organisation that is respected for its expertise and have a role in contributing to debates on professional regulation.

Our Performance Review team conducts annual performance reviews of the ten regulators that the PSA oversees. As a Scrutiny Officer, you will take responsibility for leading the review of one or two regulators and contribute across the work of the team. We are looking to recruit individuals who can:

  • plan and lead projects to produce high quality outcomes within set deadlines
  • identify, collect and analyse qualitative and quantitative information to generate robust conclusions
  • develop and manage effective stakeholder relationships
  • work collaboratively and supportively within and across teams
  • write clear, concise reports for internal and external audiences.

We are committed to promoting a fair and inclusive workplace where all our staff can flourish and reach their full potential. We know that a diverse workforce, at all levels, allows for a more creative and productive environment bringing different viewpoints, knowledge and experience. Therefore, we are keen to improve the diversity within our organisation and would like to encourage individuals who come from a diverse range of backgrounds.

You don’t need to have worked in the health and social care sector before. But you will need the enthusiasm and drive to understand the field we work in, and a strong commitment to protecting patients and the public. You will also need to share our values of integrity, transparency, respect, fairness and teamwork.

As a Disability Confident employer, we will guarantee an interview for people with disabilities who meet all the essential criteria and so if you would like to be considered under this scheme then please let us know.
