Assistant Chief of Staff / Executive Assistant

A new world-leading consumer company focused on improving everyday health for billions of people is growing rapidly and looking for a Assistant Chief of Staff /EA to support their recently appointed General Counsel.

This is a truly all-encompassing and super involved 1:1 EA/ Assistant Chief of Staff role. You will provide effective, proactive and comprehensive administrative support to the General Counsel, enabling them to perform in the most efficient manner as a global leader and Board member.

My client is looking for an established Senior EA / Assistant Chief of Staff with experience within a global FTSE 100 supporting either General Counsel/ Head of Legal or CFO/COO type SLT member. FMCG being the preferred industry sector.

You must be able to evidence real involvement on running the corporate function and getting involved in strategy, project implementation and driving agendas. You will be managing and driving the board agendas , understanding where the General Counsel fits within the corporate structure, understanding board and committee cycles. You will drive the content of presentations/agendas and writing /gathering information for them.

Exposure to paralegal work to assist with agreements and proposals a huge plus! As an EA you will be so much more, you will be closely aligned to their projects, really understand the concepts and content, be super involved and add tremendous value to their function. Looking for someone to drive their agenda, working super closely with his teams across the regions with extensive stakeholder management across the business. Opportunity to travel a few times a year to attend global conferences too

Key responsibilities:

  • The 'glue’ of the Leadership team; Anticipating what matters most and aligning the Leadership team accordingly.
  • Championing the team, providing counsel and challenge, bringing it all together and providing support across the collective work streams.
  • Assist in the delivery of the function’s ambitions.
  • Enabling the change management process - supporting development and implementation of plans, colleague communication and engagement, embedding future ways of working across the function
  • Partner with the Group Legal Leadership team to define, communicate and implement functional objectives.
  • Delivering priorities on a project-by-project basis.
  • Big picture thinking; anticipating what is coming next and in turn what actions need to be taken now. Identifying key priorities, managing business critical matters, disseminate information and confidential flow of information.
  • Playing a crucial part in the efficient day to day running of the GCs office, managing competing priorities and complex scheduling for all ExCo, Board and NED commitments aligned to strategic business priorities and functional objectives.
  • Allocating tasks and problem solving for multiple stakeholders.
  • Manage conference and events, shaping and delivering the agenda in collaboration with the Legal Leadership Team.
  • Translating key messages into content aligned to their strategy and purpose.
  • Manage the function’s comms and engagement approach, including drafting all internal communication materials.
  • Operating with a broad, commercial, in depth understanding of the 'why’ and the complexities of the GCs corporate, governance and regulatory responsibilities and provide support to meet the Group’s governance requirements
  • Providing support to the GC on significant corporate M&A transactions, working closely with internal corporate teams and external advisers
  • Managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Liaison with Law firms, external advisors, Board members and senior internal stakeholders across a broad range of confidential commercial matters.

Key skills and experience:

  • Familiar with the external business landscape, media and investor awareness.
  • Able to demonstrate an understanding of the business’ and functions strategic priorities
  • Able to work at pace, navigate complexity and solve problems.
  • Proven track record in effective communication with senior stakeholders
  • Delivering to the highest standard of professionalism.
  • Experience of influencing and supporting C-Suite Executives, ideally a Legal Counsel/Director of Legal
  • Proactive, anticipating needs and requirements, with no prompting or guidance.
  • Confidentiality, recognising the level of stakeholder interaction within the role i.e. board members, government, investors.
