Investment Analyst - PE Backed Music Acquisitions Scale Up - London

Harmonic are delighted to be working with one of the music industry's fastest scaling start ups, in the search for an Investments Analyst, during an exciting period of growth for the business.

The Business:

Our client is already making a real impact within the music industry, with a small team of industry leading figures driving the business forward. Described by highly respected figures as a boutique music rights acquisition business, our client are well backed by a prestigious and successful Private Equity investment management firm. The business is focused on acquiring and building a portfolio of well-established music copyright assets, all expertly managed under the company brand. As a rapidly scaling start up, there is an exciting, fast paced, all hands on deck culture in place. The tight knit team are highly collaborative, and can offer colleagues high growth potential, along with a huge amount of autonomy and influence with their work. With a flexible, largely remote focused working structure, this is a great opportunity to play a huge role in a scale up journey. There is a clear vision is to build a diverse catalogue of charted hits and culturally relevant songs across all genres and eras, to utilise the power of great music to connect people and span generations.

The Role:

This is a newly created role in line with the change and growth the organisation is currently experiencing. The position will have an interesting array of responsibilities alongside a direct impact on the future strategy and scaling of the business. The successful candidate will report into a senior M&A director with a fantastic background and experience in the music industry. You will build relationships with both senior stakeholders inside and outside the business and work alongside music industry veterans and the private equity partners.

Main Duties:

  • Build valuation models (incl. DCFs) and assist in the evaluation of acquisition targets.
  • Analyse the performance of acquisition targets on an absolute and relative basis.
  • Assist with financial due diligence of prospective deals and preparation of investment packs.
  • Assist the team with deal execution.
  • Support and monitor the deal pipeline.
  • Support and monitor operational metrics relating to the deal pipeline.
  • Support the wider team in ad-hoc requests (e.g. liaise with legal team, onboarding of catalogues with our administrator).

What we need to see (essential):

  • M&A / investment experience (analyst / associate level)
  • Advanced Excel/modelling skills
  • Experience building DCF models

What we need to see (bonus):

  • Music or Media Industry background

Salary: £50k - £65k + discretionary bonus

Location: London (1/2 days in office)
