About the Role
You'll be at the heart of financial planning, analysis, and transformation. This is not your average reporting role, this is a hands-on position where your expertise in financial modelling and financial planning will directly support strategic initiatives and reform. Key responsibilities include:
- Leading detailed financial analysis, including variance and trend analysis, scenario modelling, and forecasting
- Supporting the development and maintenance of robust medium-term financial plans
- Playing a key role in transformation and funding reform projects, contributing financial insights and managing workstreams
- Reviewing systems and processes to deliver more efficient working practices
- Providing technical financial support to senior stakeholders to influence and shape decisions
About You
We're looking for a confident and technically capable finance professional with a solid grounding in public sector finance, particularly within a local authority setting. You'll need:
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial regulations, and budgetary control
- Proven experience in financial analysis, forecasting, and reporting within a complex public sector environment
- Expertise in financial modelling and a knack for turning numbers into clear, compelling insights
- Advanced Excel and data visualisation skills, with experience using financial systems
- Excellent communication skills, you'll be working closely with directors, auditors, and senior managers, often representing the finance voice in strategic conversations
