About the Role

You'll be at the heart of financial planning, analysis, and transformation. This is not your average reporting role, this is a hands-on position where your expertise in financial modelling and financial planning will directly support strategic initiatives and reform. Key responsibilities include:

Leading detailed financial analysis, including variance and trend analysis, scenario modelling, and forecasting
Supporting the development and maintenance of robust medium-term financial plans
Playing a key role in transformation and funding reform projects, contributing financial insights and managing workstreams
Reviewing systems and processes to deliver more efficient working practices
Providing technical financial support to senior stakeholders to influence and shape decisions

About You

We're looking for a confident and technically capable finance professional with a solid grounding in public sector finance, particularly within a local authority setting. You'll need:

Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial regulations, and budgetary control
Proven experience in financial analysis, forecasting, and reporting within a complex public sector environment
Expertise in financial modelling and a knack for turning numbers into clear, compelling insights
Advanced Excel and data visualisation skills, with experience using financial systems
Excellent communication skills, you'll be working closely with directors, auditors, and senior managers, often representing the finance voice in strategic conversations
