Underwriter (Broker Business) - City of London (Hybrid)

We are working with a leading insurance firm in the City of London to recruit an experienced Underwriter (Broker Business). This is a fantastic opportunity for a professional with expertise in commercial combined and SME risks to take a key role in underwriting and managing broker relationships.

The Role:

As an Underwriter in the Broker Business team, you will be responsible for underwriting commercial combined and SME risks, building strong broker relationships, and contributing to the team's success. This involves underwriting, trading, and delivering high-quality service to achieve profitable results.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers, ensuring excellent service and support for assigned portfolios.
  • Underwrite commercial combined including quoting new business, handling mid-term adjustments (MTAs), and managing renewals, in line with company guidelines.
  • Negotiate terms and pricing with brokers within your underwriting authority.
  • Timely and accurate issuance of policy documentation.
  • Visit brokers to maintain existing accounts, identify new business opportunities, and promote additional company products.
  • Work closely with Claims, Finance, and IT teams to streamline processes and improve overall service delivery.

Skills:

  • Solid understanding of underwriting principles, regulatory requirements, and the insurance market.
  • Over 3 years of underwriting experience in commercial combined and SME risks.
  • Strong communication and negotiation abilities to foster broker relationships.
  • Proficient in MS Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.

Qualifications: Degree-level certifications in CII (Dip CII).
