Award winning city firm is seeking an experienced Accountant/ Auditor to join their Accounting and Business solutions team. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn, grow and improve your Financial Accounting, Financial reporting, problem solving and rapport building skills.

The firm is looking for an experienced accountant to join their tight knit team. You will demonstrate an interest in supporting businesses, have strong communication skills and the ability to analyse and interpret data for the firm's clients.

?You will be responsible for a portfolio of clients from various industries so it is essential that you can prioritise work, meet deadlines set by a manager and at the same time deliver the highest possible service. Initially you will be directed by senior staff, managers and partners but over time and depending on your rate of progress, you will be able to take on more responsibility as your role progresses.

?In the longer term, there is scope within the role for you to gain experience of marketing our services to your clients and potential clients.

The role of the Assistant Manager is to oversee the delivery of accounting services to a small portfolio of clients, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and statutory requirements. Providing high-level technical advice and ensuring the timely and accurate completion of work. They are also involved in key aspects of billing, budgeting, WIP, and debtor management.

  • Carry out first review of financial statements/corporation tax for manager/partner review.
  • Review VAT returns and management accounts.
  • Ensure that files comply with accounting standards and tax regulations.
  • Proactive internal and external communications, providing updates and insights that add value to clients and their business.
  • Begin management of a small portfolio of clients, ensuring that all deadlines are met.
  • Assist with management of the 'pod' in which your clients sit, including resourcing.
  • Act as line manager to trainees within the 'pod', including the gathering of feedback on team members for performance reviews.
  • Responsible for recoveries and billing, ensuring WIP is well managed and controlled as well as billing is completed on time.

Requirements:

  • Qualified accountant ACCA/ACA/CIMA or equivalent.
  • Excellent knowledge of Xero and other cloud based software?.
  • Understanding of VAT rules and regulations.?
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Dealing with HMRC on a regular basis.?
  • Excellent interpersonal and team working skills.
  • Approachable with a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to lead by example.
  • Proactive with good problem-solving skills.
