Job Title: Admin and Finance Officer (Housing)

Working Pattern: Full Time, Monday - Friday, 36 hours

Job Purpose: We are seeking a dedicated Admin and Finance Officer to provide comprehensive finance and administrative support for Housing Services across our Local Authority client. You will manage supplier accounts for temporary accommodation and handle the administration of online housing applications, orders, and invoices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Verify and process invoices from accommodation providers and suppliers, resolving discrepancies to prevent financial loss.
  • Liaise with temporary accommodation and property management teams to ensure accurate invoicing and timely payments.
  • Administer payments for housing mobility schemes and manage Council Tax and utilities bills for void periods in leased properties.
  • Handle the receipt and verification of Part VI Housing Application forms and ensure accurate indexing of documents.
  • Manage the ordering, amending, and receiving of goods and services, ensuring timely payment and resolution of any mismatches.
  • Provide administrative support for Data Protection Act requests and other statutory reviews or appeals.
  • Contribute to the creation of guidance notes and processes, and provide training to new team members.

Person Specification:

  • Demonstrated understanding of good practice in admin and invoicing.
  • Proficiency in using financial IT systems.
  • Experience working within a team and with various agencies.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a busy, changing environment.
  • High standard of IT skills and the ability to undertake a wide range of financial and administrative tasks.
  • Excellent literacy, numeracy, and communication skills with attention to detail.
  • GCSEs in Maths and English (grade C or above) or equivalent.
