Cards and Clearing Manager (Private Banking)

Due to exciting growth within their payments sector, a highly prestigious boutique financial institution in the City is seeking to hire a Cards and Clearing Manager to join their team. You will be responsible for leading and ensuring a professional and effective team, driving forward the Card Operations within the bank and ensuring a seamless and streamlined experience for the customer. Candidates must have previous experience managing a team and excellent knowledge of PCI DSS.

Duties of the Cards and Clearing Manager to include:

  • Lead the Cards & Clearing Team to ensure compliance with bank policies, alignment with risk appetite, and delivery of exceptional customer service. Leverage expertise in Cards & Clearing Scheme rules (e.g., Visa, Cheque & Credit Clearing), PCI DSS, card processors (e.g., TSYS), card/PIN producers (e.g., G&D), and trade body activities (e.g., UK Finance) to drive operational excellence.

Leadership & Team Management:

  • Provide leadership, coaching, and guidance to foster a collaborative and positive team environment.
  • Involvement in recruiting, training, and developing team members, ensuring they meet performance objectives.

Customer Excellence:

  • Oversee exceptional service delivery and act as a stakeholder reference point.
  • Manage third-party suppliers and monitor customer feedback to identify improvement areas.

Operational Management:

  • Oversee daily operations, resource allocation, and KPI performance.
  • Implement best practices to optimise efficiency and maintain a high standard of service.

Process Improvement:

  • Identify and implement workflow enhancements to boost productivity and service quality.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align processes with organisational goals.

Quality Assurance:

  • Ensure robust T&C testing and upskill team members for operational resilience.
  • Periodically review FLOD effectiveness and key processes.

Technology & Innovation:

  • Identify and implement technology solutions to enhance operations and customer experience.

Requirements for the successful Cards and Clearing Manager to include:

  • Proven experience managing a technical operations team to deliver customer excellence.
  • Candidates must have excellent knowledge of PCI DSS and high-level knowledge of Cards and Clearing Scheme rules, including Visa and Cheque and Credit.
  • Ability to perform under pressure, leading teams to deliver accurate, high-quality outputs.
  • Skilled in performance management, supporting colleagues to meet targets and maintain standards.
  • Collaborative team player who aligns with institutional values and ethos.
  • Candidates will ideally be able to produce and analyse team MI to drive decisions.
  • Awareness of regulatory environments and adherence to risk appetite.
  • Experience with Business Continuity Planning (BCP) in financial services.
