About the Role: As the Credit Manager, you will oversee the credit risk function, ensuring that our credit exposures are effectively assessed, mitigated, and compliant with regulatory requirements. This position is integral to enhancing our credit analysis quality, conducting stress testing, and strengthening governance in lending decisions. You will also focus on business development, engaging with stakeholders to expand our credit portfolio in alignment with our strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Business Development & Customer Engagement:Develop relationships with potential clients, introducers, and stakeholders to grow our credit portfolio while understanding UK market dynamics and aligning with the Sri Lankan community's needs in the UK.
  • Credit Risk Assessment & Management:Conduct detailed evaluations of lending facilities, implement credit risk policies, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Credit Analysis & Decision-Making:Lead the credit analysis process, review proposals, and monitor the credit portfolio to identify and address potential risks.
  • Regulatory Compliance & Reporting:Ensure all credit activities comply with PRA standards, prepare reports for senior management, and liaise with regulatory bodies.
  • Governance & Oversight:Enhance governance of lending decisions, oversee compliance of in-life facilities, and manage the backlog of annual reviews.
  • Leadership & Team Management:Mentor and lead the credit risk team, providing training on credit risk assessment and regulatory compliance.
  • Stakeholder Management:Collaborate with internal teams and engage with senior management to provide insights on credit risk.

Key Qualifications:

  • Education:Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or related field. A Master’s degree or professional qualification (e.g., CFA, FRM) is preferred.
  • Experience:3-5 years in credit risk management, specializing in UK property finance (Buy-to-Let, commercial real estate, mixed-use properties, bridging finance), with experience in a regulated banking environment.
  • Technical Skills:Expertise in credit analysis, risk weights, stress testing, and financial analysis.
  • Managerial Competencies:Demonstrated leadership and strong decision-making skills with a strategic mindset.
  • Communication Skills:Excellent written and verbal communication abilities, with experience presenting to senior management and regulatory bodies.

Additional Requirements:

  • Familiarity with PRA Supervisory Statements, commitment to high ethical standards, and adaptability to a fast-paced environment.
