Harris Hill is recruiting for a Director of Finance and ICT – (18 Months Fixed Term Contract) for the Human Rights Charity based in London. (Hybrid)

  • Salary: £92,000pa plus Benefits
  • Length of Contract: 18 Months Fixed Term – (On a Salaried basis only)
  • Hybrid Working: A minimum of 2 set days a week is required at their offices in London
  • Report to: Chief Executive

Role Overview

 

We are seeking an experienced Director of Finance and ICT (On an 18 Month Fixed Term Contract) to lead the Finance and ICT functions, ensuring outstanding service delivery, process improvements, and financial resilience. This leadership role will play a crucial part in supporting budget holders, enhancing financial strategy, and driving technological efficiencies across the organisation.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Financial Leadership & Strategy

  1. Lead, support, and develop the Finance Team to provide an outstanding service to budget holders, leaders, and the Board.
  2. Oversee the budgeting, financial forecasting, and financial strategy processes, working closely with the Head of Finance and Deputy CEO.
  3. Strengthen financial resilience by monitoring and building cash reserves to support future growth.
  4. Advise the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and Board on financial competitiveness while maintaining service quality and integrity.
  5. Play a key role in negotiations with Commissioners to achieve fairer funding and support business development and fundraising teams in setting fair budgets.

Finance & Process Improvement

  1. Complete the organisation-wide adoption of the New System, introduce dashboards, and enhance budget management capabilities for budget holders.
  2. Lead a full review of core financial processes (including payroll) to improve accuracy, reduce transaction costs, and free up valuable management time.

ICT & Digital Transformation

  1. Develop and implement an IT strategy to drive efficiencies across the organisation.
  2. Lead the adoption and implementation of new systems and processes.

Collaboration & Leadership

  1. Build strong, open, accountable, and collegiate relationships with HR, Income Generation Teams, and Services colleagues to foster cross-functional collaboration.
  2. Provide leadership and strategic oversight to ensure financial and ICT strategies align with organisational goals.

Key Requirements

  1. Proven experience in a senior Finance leadership role, ideally within a charity, non-profit, or public sector organisation.
  2. Strong financial management skills, including budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
  3. Experience implementing financial and IT systems to improve efficiency.
  4. Ability to lead, motivate, and develop finance and ICT teams.
  5. Strategic thinker with strong negotiation skills and experience engaging with Commissioners and funders.
