Exciting opportunity to join this expanding freight forwarding business with a growing number of offices.
Reporting to the Group CEO, you will play a key leadership role, driving the ongoing profitable growth of the business and advising on strategic direction. This role involves overall responsibility for all finance activities within the business, ensuring financial control and policy adherence, and acting as a key interface with the Executive team and external accountants.
This opportunity may be suitable for an experienced Head of Finance, Finance Manager or Senior Financial Controller seeking the next step in their career. Finance experience gained within the freight forwarding industry is essential.
Responsibilities
- Lead the finance function, ensuring high standards of financial reporting and performance management
- Build the commercial business partnering team capability
- Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and planning processes
- Liaise with the independent financial auditors to compile and approve the annual audited statutory financial statements for all applicable group entities
- Strong focus on proactive working capital management: debtor collection; developing strategies to resolve collection issues and reduce aged debt, and negotiating supplier terms
- Lead the development and use of best-practice policies, practices, and tools that ensure a well-controlled yet flexible organisation with strong fiscal management, project management, cross team communications and workflow
- To provide financial governance to the business, ensuring compliance with best practice and regulatory requirements.
- Create and publish regular financial information, including financial forecasts, to support the management review process
- Take lead role in supporting the CEO in the financial analysis and due diligence of any potential commercial new ventures of the company
- Support in the M&A due diligence work as required
To excel in this role, you will need to:
- Have extensive finance experience gained within the freight forwarding industry
- Be a capable people manager with a proven ability enhance the skills of a finance team
- Strong numerical and analytical skills
- Able to meet tight deadlines and a self starter
- Knowledge of Cargowise would be beneficial although not essential
