They are seeking a highly skilled accountant to join their team as a Finance Director and lead their financial operations and strategy. This senior role involves overseeing financial planning, compliance, and risk management while driving the company’s financial performance. Acting as a key advisor to the leadership team, the FD/CFO will play an instrumental role in shaping the company's growth and strategic direction.

Key Areas

Strategic and Financial Planning

  • Oversees the annual budgeting process, ensuring completion before year-end.
  • Prepares and reviews monthly management accounts, including consolidations and comparisons to budget (B), forecast (F), and last year (LY).
  • Designs and implements a robust set of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), ensuring regular production and review.
  • Leads the creation of quarterly forecasts (1QF, 2QF) and develops financial models as required.

Cash Flow Management

  • Prepares and maintains weekly cashflow forecasts to ensure financial stability.
  • Monitors cashflow regularly, identifying and addressing potential challenges proactively.

Operational Oversight

  • Supervises accounts receivable (AR) and accounts payable (AP), managed by the Finance Manager, and escalates issues to leadership as necessary.
  • Ensures compliance with all evolving financial regulations and standards.
  • Manages the production of statutory accounts, tax returns (including VAT and R&D tax credits), payroll, and pension contributions.

Legal and Risk Management

  • Maintains and oversees the client and supplier contracts database.
  • Leads risk management initiatives, including compliance with ethical audit frameworks such as SMETA.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in finance with the ability and gravitas to act as #1 in finance
  • Expertise in budgeting, financial reporting and working capital management
  • Qualified accountant
