  • Harris Hill is partnering with Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) to find a Finance Director for a part-time, 2-year fixed term contract position.

Harris Hill are partnering with Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) in their search for a Finance Director. The role is on a part-time (3 days per week), 2-year fixed term contract basis. Reporting directly to the Secretary-General, you will be responsible for the financial management, business analysis and reporting of the CPA, ensuring ongoing viability and a secure financial future in line with the organisation’s Not-for-Profit status, mission and values.

Please note, hybrid working is available – you would be required to be in the office 1-2 days per week.

Additionally, please note the salary on offer is the FTE.

As Finance Director, you will:

- Act as strategic financial adviser to the Secretary-General, Hon. Treasurer, Executive Committee and the Audit Subcommittee particularly on issues relating to financial and investment strategy, financial planning, risk and management reporting

- Oversee the financial management and performance of the CPA including through the conception and delivery of an appropriate Financial Strategy, financial modelling and forecasts around growth for the Association

- Maintain full compliance with Charity Commission reporting requirements, including the preparation of the annual accounts for audit sign-off and approval by the Board of Trustees of both the Charity and a new Not-for-Profit Association

- Oversee effective delivery of all finance and resources functions, including accounting, corporate finance and budgeting, payroll, and financial compliance

- Support the Financial Accountant by overseeing the monitoring, evaluation and reporting of financial performance via the provision of management information, including management accounts, key performance indicators and rolling forecasts

The successful applicant will:

- Have significant demonstrable experience in finance within the charity sector, in a similar role

- Be fully qualified (hold a Professional Chartered Accountancy Qualification)

- Have experience in the overseeing of the management of investment portfolios

- Have a solid understanding of Charity SORP

- Have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

- Have a minimum of 5 years board level experience of organisational financial management with or within an international institution and/or charity sector
