A global philanthropic foundation dedicated to advancing gender equality is seeking an experienced Finance Director to lead its Finance Team and support its growing international operations. Reporting into the Chief Finance & Operations Officer, this is a pivotal leadership role where you will oversee the foundation's financial strategy, operations, and governance across global regions and functions. The role involves leading financial planning and reporting, managing risk and compliance, and fostering collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to ensure financial sustainability.This exciting opportunity is ideal for a qualified finance professional with extensive leadership experience and a passion for equality. The role offers a competitive salary, bonus, and excellent benefits. This is a hybrid position, with three days per week required in the Central London offices.The Finance Director will be responsible for:

  • Leading the foundation's finance function, overseeing budgeting, forecasting, statutory reporting, financial controls, and compliance across global regions.
  • Developing and implementing financial strategies to optimise resource allocation and ensure alignment with the foundation's mission and goals.
  • Providing financial planning and decision support to leadership, including financial modelling and risk management.
  • Managing and mentoring a high-performing finance team across central and regional offices, fostering collaboration and professional development.
  • Developing and maintaining robust internal controls, policies, and financial governance frameworks.
  • Overseeing financial systems and data management, driving innovation and process improvements.
  • Building strong relationships with the foundation's global finance, treasury, and systems teams to ensure alignment and efficiency.
  • Preparing and delivering financial updates and presentations to the foundation's Board and committees, including the Audit, Finance, and Risk Committee (AFRC).

The ideal Finance Director will:

  • Be a qualified finance professional (ACCA, CIMA, ACA, or equivalent) with at least 10 years of experience in financial management and leadership.
  • Demonstrate strategic thinking and the ability to navigate complex financial challenges in a global context.
  • Have experience in philanthropy, the charity sector, or similar mission-driven organisations.
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Be adept at managing financial systems, improving processes, and leading organisational change.
  • Show commitment to the foundation's mission, values, and principles, with an understanding of feminist funding practices and trust-based philanthropy.
