Finance Manager | Start-up FMCG business | Central London (3 days per week in the office) | 3 month contract (possibility to go permanent) | up to £300 per day outside IR35 or FTC equivalent

This is an opportunity for a Finance Manager to join a fast-growth, start-up FMCG business (food), on a 3-month contract (potential to go permanent) based in Central London (3 days per week in the office). You will be joining at a key time for the brand, they are heavily investing and focused on expansion and increasing market share through launching into new retailers.

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will take ownership of the finance function. This includes owning the management accounts, month-end, VAT through to overseeing the accounts payable and accounts receivable processes. The business is looking for someone who can proactively look at improving existing processes to facilitate growth.

Responsibilities include:

  • Taking ownership of the management accounts and month-end processes
  • Implementing and continuously improving the month-end close and reporting pack to support the business growth and complexity
  • Managing cashflow forecasting and reporting to senior management
  • Overseeing the accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
  • Managing VAT returns
  • Owning the payroll processing and pension schemes
  • Developing a robust financial control environment in the UK ensuring completeness and accuracy of data

Skill set required

The successful candidate will be a qualified Accountant or Qualified by Experience with proven experience working in the FMCG sector (or of a stock-related industry). You will have experience working in a small company environment and must have proven experience of month-end close and management accounts. Knowledge of Xero is preferred but not essential. The successful candidate will be a problem solver with excellent communication skills who has the ability to work in a fast-paced and high-growth business.
