Ivy Rock Partners is delighted to be partnering with a leading educational institution in Central London to recruit an experienced Finance Manager to join the team on a 3-6 month contract. This is a unique opportunity to play a key role in a well-established school, ensuring the smooth running of its financial operations while contributing to its strategic vision.

The Role

As Finance Manager, you will oversee all aspects of financial management for the school and working closely with senior leadership. You will ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements, manage 2 junior members of staff in the finance team, and provide insightful financial analysis to support decision-making.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Leadership: Lead the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and management accounts, ensuring financial performance aligns with strategic goals.
  • Management Reporting: Produce detailed financial reports and analysis for senior leadership and governors, translating complex data into actionable insights.
  • Payroll & Pensions: Oversee payroll processes, ensuring compliance with pension schemes and statutory requirements.
  • Compliance: Maintain compliance with all financial regulations, including statutory audits, VAT returns, and charity guidelines.
  • Cash Flow & Treasury: Manage cash flow, investments, and reserves to ensure the school’s financial health.
  • Procurement & Contracts: Lead procurement activities, ensuring value for money while maintaining high service standards.
  • Team Management: Manage and develop the finance team, fostering a culture of professionalism and continuous improvement.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership and governors, and liaise with external auditors and regulatory bodies.
Profile

We are seeking a highly motivated and collaborative finance professional with the following qualifications and skills:

  • A recognised accounting qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA), part qualified or QBE.
  • Proven experience in financial management, ideally within the education, non-profit, or public sector.
  • Strong technical skills, with proficiency in financial software and advanced Excel.
  • Experience with SAGE is desirable
  • A track record of delivering financial leadership and managing complex budgets.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly and concisely.
  • A commitment to the values and ethos of the education sector.
