Our client, an award-winning and prestigious barristersā€™ chambers based near Chancery Lane is seeking an experienced Finance Manager to oversee the day-to-day activities of their Finance team of four people.

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the successful candidate will provide effective day-to-day support and management of the Finance team where attention to detail, and excellent communication skills are key. Using both LEX practice management system and Sage Accounts the Finance Manager will be responsible for producing monthly management reports, and other ad-hoc financial information that the COO may require for presentation to the Chambers Management Committee.

Core duties will include:

  • Provision of key information required by the COO for the annual budget
  • Coordination of the annual external audit including preparation of financial accounts and corporation tax computation
  • Provision of quarterly VAT information to barristers or their accountants as well as control of Chambersā€™ VAT
  • Provision of information for the preparation of barristersā€™ annual income tax returns
  • Preparation and review of monthly barrister statements/invoices and the collection of the associated payments via direct debit
  • Supervision of the purchase ledger process, including invoice approval and Bacs run authorisation
  • Management of monthly outsourced payroll function including end of year reports, P11Ds and PSA
  • Dual control of the company bank, internet banking and credit card facility
  • Managing a team of four, and overseeing the credit control and billing function

This role would suit a newly qualified or part qualified accountant with experience of managing a Finance team, and whilst experience of the Legal sector is desirable it is not essential.
