We are currently supporting an industry leader in Rail Transportation to recruit a Finance Manager for their London office.

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail orientated individual with extensive management accounting experience, as well as someone with an excellent track record of managing and motivating a team.

The role will best suite someone from a complex organisation with a high volume of transactions.

Responsibilities:

Financial Management

  • Oversee P&L accounts for the Directorate, preparing periodic management accounts for senior finance managers.
  • Collaborate with the Financial Controlling team to ensure accurate classification and recognition of costs and revenues.
  • Work with HR, Payroll, and Pensions teams to correctly manage payroll costs such as secondees, redundancies, and health-related payments.
  • Handle period end processes, including preparing accruals, prepayments, and other journal entries with proper documentation.

Reconciliation and Reporting

  • Manage assigned balance sheet accounts, ensuring accurate transactions and clear cash flow tracking.
  • Create and maintain documentation for regular financial processes.
  • Produce variance analyses against budgets/forecasts and provide insights to Finance Business Partners.
  • Deliver periodic reports on payroll, full-time equivalents (FTE), and financial analyses.

Provision and Inventory Management

  • Review and adjust inventory and property dilapidation provisions quarterly, following company policy.
  • Update rolling stock and depot property provisions based on the latest data.

Team Leadership

  • Manage a team of 3 Management Accountants, focusing on:
  • Performance reviews and development plans.

Requirements:

  • Qualified (ACCA/CIMA)
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Confident with MS Suite, particularly Excel
  • Experience with SAP/SAP BI/SAP BPC will be an advantage
