Kenny Recruit have partnered with a charity where work life balance is encouraged, to find a Finance Manager who will run the day-to-day finance function, who will oversee the Finance Assistant and Volunteer and someone who will help to drive the finance function forward. As the Finance Manager you will ensure that finance operations are managed, you will develop and implement systems for financial control and you will contribute to the strategic direction of the charity.
Pay: £40,000 - £45,000 per annum dependent on experience) + benefits
Location: North London (3 days in the office)
Working hours: 9:00am - 5.30pm
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure that the Chief Executive and Committee are kept in informed of the organisation’s financial position
- Advise the Chief Executive, Committee and Managers on the financial implications of proposed courses of action and financial control
- Keep up to date with financial developments in charity sector
- Maintain contact with pension advisors, auditors, solicitors and other finance related professional advisors
- Prepare clear and accurate overall budgets, revised budgets and variance reports with assumptions stated
- Ensure up to date and accurate bookkeeping and accounts are kept, and that they comply with all legal and other requirements, including drafting consolidated annual accounts in statutory format
- Monitor cash flow, treasury function and investment decisions and make reports to the Chief Executive and Committee
- Maintain an accurate and up to date fixed asset register
- Ensure all income receivable is claimed and collected and that debts are properly pursued
- Ensure all receipts are properly recorded - including overseeing the recording and issuing of petty cash
- Ensure appropriate banking of all monies
- Ensure that PAYE payments and related records are properly maintained
- Ensure that all payments are made in a timely fashion
- Ensure that the payroll is prepared on time and appropriate payments made
- Oversee the preparation of cheques for payments of authorised invoices and expenses
- Ensure that appropriate financial monitoring information is supplied to Managers
- Ensure maintenance and proper administration of imprest accounts
- Ensure the maintenance of appropriate documentation of all accounting related functions
- Ensure that accurate and timely financial information is supplied to funders where specified
- Ensure accounts are filed as appropriate in advance of deadlines set by Companies House and Charities Commission
- To ensure that actual and potential financial risks are identified and to make timely recommendations to the Chief Executive and Committee to effectively manage them
Requirements:
- Previous experience of working within a charity is a bonus but not necessary
- Previous experience of running a finance function
- The ability to work well under pressure
- To be able to improve process
