Our client, a prestigious law firm in London, is seeking a Finance Manager for a 7-month contract. This role requires full-time office presence for the first three months, followed by one day per week working from home.
Role Overview:
The Finance Manager will oversee day-to-day financial operations of the London office, working closely with a Finance Assistant. For the three-month maternity leave cover period, the successful candidate will report to the Senior Finance, with in-office support available.
We are looking for a highly competent, detail-oriented professional with strong knowledge of Solicitorsā Accounts Rules (SARs) and the confidence to engage with partners effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the main point of contact for the London officeās finance function.
- Supervise and support the London Finance Assistant.
- Maintain financial controls and processes to ensure compliance with Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) requirements.
- Manage the monthly and annual financial statement close processes, ensuring timely reporting of financial results and key performance indicators.
- Prepare and analyse financial statements, budgets, and forecasts for senior management.
- Oversee cash flow and working capital management to support business operations.
- Coordinate financial audits and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Review VAT returns and monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
- Assist the Compliance Officer for Finance and Administration (COFA).
- Provide stand-in support for journal entries, accruals, prepayments, depreciation, and bank reconciliations.
- Handle ad hoc projects and additional tasks as required.
- Occasional overtime may be necessary.
Essential Requirements:
- 5+ years' experience in legal finance.
- Strong understanding of Solicitorsā Accounts Rules (SARs) and legal accounting procedures.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with confidence in engaging with partners and external parties.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with meticulous attention to detail.
- Advanced proficiency in MS Excel.
- Experience with 3E Elite (ERP), Xcelerate (Budgeting/Forecasting), and Chrome River (expense reporting) is advantageous.
