NEW Finance Manager position available at US law firm.
As the Finance Manager you will be responsible for the daily operations of the Firm's London Accounting team, which oversees the general ledger, accounts payable, cash receipts, payroll, and local tax filings as well as taking on a proactive role working in a more collaborative way with the partners & fee earners
Specific duties include:
- Lead and mentor a team of four including Payroll Supervisor, Accounting Specialists and Accounting Assistant.
- Review team capabilities and recommend improvements and development plans.
- Develop effective relationships with the Global Controller, Chief Financial Officer and other Firm Leaders.
- Develop effective "business partner" relationships with Finance Managers in Europe and Asia.
- Ensure the accuracy of the Firm's general accounting in compliance with local accounting and tax rules as well as global accounting policies, pursuant to global monthly close deadlines, using the Aderant ERP.
- Review bank account reconciliations and general ledger reconciliations.
- Manage Client Accounts and oversee the SRA Accounts Rules Audit.
- Serve as the Firm's Compliance Officer for Finance and Administration (COFA).
- Oversee timely and effective payroll process, including: ADP software management, finance and banking systems integration, and payment.
- Oversee timely and effective vendor and expense payment processing through the Chrome River system.
- Ensure timely and accurate execution of payments. Ensure bank account paperwork, including authorised signers, is current.
- Ensure a timely and effective cash receipts process, which includes applying client and general office receipts.
- Monitor fixed assets and work in progress, accurately capturing additions and retirements and depreciation.
- Supervise the current tax and VAT returns.
- Assess, rationalise, and document best-practice accounting processes.
- Analyse and validate financial information, including revenue, expense, net income, headcount, etc, for the London office.
- Prepare and review the annual budget for the London office, including operating expense budget, while collaborating with others to estimate headcount and capital expenditures.
Experience needed:
- Must have a law firm background and be familiar with the SRA as this post will take on the role of COFA
- ACCA/ACA/CIMA qualification preferred.
- Experience overseeing payroll is essential
- Ability to mentor team members, provide robust and timely feedback, and proactively align professional development with Firm strategic goals.
- Experience providing strong written analysis including summarising large amounts of data into concise
- Experience using Aderant would be highly advantageous
- Excellent communication skills with a proven ability to build effective relationships with key
