Nafin's London Branch is seeking a highly qualified Finance Manager for a 6-month maternity cover position. This is a full-time, temporary role with the possibility of extension, offering an excellent opportunity for a seasoned finance professional to make a significant impact in an international banking environment.

The ideal candidate will be a qualified accountant with experience in financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and team management. You will be responsible for overseeing the Branch's financial operations, ensuring compliance with FCA regulations, and supporting the General Manager in various strategic initiatives.

This role requires a professional who can quickly adapt to our systems and processes, effectively manage the Back Office team, and maintain the high standards of financial management and reporting expected in our organization. Fluency in Spanish is essential for this position due to frequent communication with our Head Office.

Salary: £45,000 - £48,000 per annum (pro-rata)

Description

  • Preparing, examining and analysing financial reports, records and statutory accounts.
  • Preparing and submitting tax documents.
  • Preparing and monitoring the Branchs budget.
  • Maintenance of adequate systems and comprehensive controls in accordance with the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) Handbook
  • Devising effective and cost-efficient financial practices and procedures
  • Coordinate and supervise the third party supplier delivering the annual audit of CASS and financial statements
  • Account reconciliation
  • Prepare, examine and analyse daily, monthly, quarterly and year-end reporting.
  • Prepare statutory annual accounts
  • Prepare and analyse management information
  • Prepare and monitor the Branchs budget
  • Check and monitor the Branchs payroll
  • Review and monitor internal controls in accordance with the applicable regulation, particularly the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) Handbook.
  • Manage payable accounts
  • Provide information to internal and external stakeholders, e.g., Head Office (accounts, treasury, risks and budget), external auditors, clients and counterparties.
  • Calculate taxes owed and prepare tax returns; submit tax returns on time and track payments or refunds, i.e., VAT (Part-Exemption), Corporation Tax submissions, following the agreement of the Corporation Tax Return Policy with HMRC with the support of a corporation tax specialists on an annual basis, as well as monitor HMRC submissions for anything payroll related.
  • Following the guidelines of Head Office ensure accounting policies and controls are continuously reviewed, maintained, and policed.
  • Supervise accounting staff and daily operation as escalation point
  • Work with the General Manager to assess the financial status and identify methods for cost-reduction and efficiency improvement.
  • Following the guidelines of Head Office ensure and adhere to all financial and accounting regulations and legislation
  • Other ad hoc activities relating to administrative matters and procurement of third-party services, including requesting quotes, conducting market research, drafting documentation and liaising with Head Office for authorisation.
  • Overseeing and facilitating Back Office daily operations, including financial processes and reporting. Coordinating and assisting with staff training programs and participating in recruitment processes for the Back Office team."
  • Supporting the General Manager with front offices risk assessment & management.
  • Supporting the General Manager with record keeping duties.

Profile

  • Must speak Spanish and English fluently
  • Qualified Accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA)
  • Bachelors degree or advanced degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
  • Strong accounting and internal controls experience including the preparation of financial statements
  • Audit, statutory accounts, and tax compliance experience, preferably within the financial sector
  • I-depth knowledge of financial regulations and legislation will be advantageous, particularly FCAs Clients Assets Sourcebook (CASS).
  • Ability to deliver accurate and timely management, tax and accounting information, operating within the required controls framework
  • Advanced mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail, interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Advanced skills in MS Excel and SQL
