My client a growing law firm are seeking a Finance Operations Manager to oversee and drive improvements in the revenue, billing, and purchase ledger functions. This role is pivotal in enhancing operational business functions within the Finance department, including revenue/billing/cash collection, supplier payments, client accounting, and disbursements. The successful candidate will lead projects to implement new software and automate processes, contributing significantly to the efficiency and effectiveness of the finance operations.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Lead projects to review and improve systems and processes in billing, credit control, and payment functions, recommending technological enhancements as needed.
  • Supervise teams managing the firm’s working capital, including WIP, billing, and collections.
  • Conduct weekly financial forecast meetings with the Head of Finance, setting targets and explaining variances.
  • Oversee the purchase ledger function, ensuring accurate and timely processing of supplier invoices and compliance with company policies.
  • Generate and distribute daily performance reports and respond to ad hoc reporting requests from the business.
  • Manage client accounting and ensure compliance with SRA standards, including bank liaisons, bank reconciliations, and handling disbursements.
  • Support the integration of finance functions for new acquisitions or ventures.
  • Maintain and enhance management information systems, optimizing tools like PowerBI.
  • Oversee external and SRA audits, ensuring compliance and addressing any potential breaches.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • 9+ years of experience in finance operations, with relevant qualifications.
  • Proven track record of introducing and improving financial processes and technologies.
  • Experience in the professional services sector is beneficial.
  • Strong organisational skills and proficiency in numbers.
  • Excellent team management skills and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Advanced skills in Excel for efficient data reconciliation and analysis.
  • Knowledge of SRA Accounts rules and firm’s compliance processes is advantageous.
  • Emotional intelligence and a commitment to the wellbeing of the team
