This international city law firm is looking to hire an interim Finance Supervisor and finance all rounder on an an initial 7 month FTC basis to oversee all London accounting transactions.

  • Salary up to £70,000 pro rata + attractive completion bonus

This role will provide cover for several months. The Finance Supervisor will oversee all financial accounting for the London office as well as a Finance Assistant. Reporting into the Director of Operations in London as well to the firm’s US headquarters, duties include, but are not limited to budgeting, financial statement preparation, general accounting and accounts payable, billing and collections, and financial analysis.

Finance Supervsior Responsibilities:

  • Maintain financial controls and processes to safeguard assets, meet Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) requirements, and maintain the integrity of financial data
  • Supervise and support the monthly and annual financial statement close processes, and the timely reporting of financial results and key performance indicators
  • Prepare and analyse financial statements, budgets, and regular forecasts to provide accurate financial reports to senior management
  • Manage cash flow and working capital to optimise financial resources and support business operations
  • Coordinate financial audits and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Review of the London office VAT returns
  • Review of monthly balance sheet reconciliations
  • Support the Compliance Officer for Finance and Administration (COFA)
  • Stand-in support for other members of the London finance team to include but not limited to journal entries and analysis (accruals, prepayments, depreciation, and daily bank reconciliations)
  • Undertaking of such other duties and ad hoc projects and activities which may reasonably be requested to achieve the servicing of the needs of clients and contributing to the efficiency and development of the London Accounts department 

Finance Supervisor Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of related legal cashier / finance experience, including all aspects of accounting and financial functions
  • Supervisory experience preferred
  • Experience of handling SRA audits and strong VAT / compliance knowledge
  • Knowledge of partnership tax returns would also be of advantage
  • Ideally possess a working knowledge of Elite 3e, Chrome River and advanced Excel

Candidates are required to be available to start in March / April 2025 and be able to commit for a minimum of 6 months
