A leading multi-national business is seeking a Financial Accounting Manager to lead the financial accounting team, ensuring the integrity and compliance of financial reporting processes. This role involves managing statutory reporting, external audits, and maintaining a strong controls environment for the European entities.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Lead and manage the statutory accounts process for all European entities, ensuring compliance and accuracy.
  • Manage relationships with external auditors and coordinate audits to ensure timely submissions.
  • Oversee the accounting function, coordinating the month-end close process and ensuring the integrity of data in SAP.
  • Update and apply new accounting standards as required.
  • Provide leadership to the financial accounting team, setting performance expectations and offering coaching and feedback.
  • Lead ad hoc financial accounting projects and analysis to support the European business, including acquisition accounting and M&A support.
  • Maintain a strong control environment, ensuring all SOX controls are well documented and executed.
  • Manage key financial controls and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Leverage systems and technology to streamline processes and foster a culture of continuous improvement within the team.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Educated to degree level and must be a qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA).
  • Significant post-qualification experience (10+ years) in financial accounting and statutory reporting within a commercial environment.
  • Proven track record of leading and managing teams of finance professionals.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel & SAP; working knowledge of OneSource preferred.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of UK & US GAAP accounting standards.
  • Ability to clarify complex financial reporting issues to a non-finance audience.
  • Demonstrates integrity, a strong work ethic, and a sense of urgency in task execution.
  • Constantly seeks to simplify and improve reporting processes, removing unnecessary complexity.
