- Document and map the controls environment to support the Assurance Framework.
- Experience in control mapping (Internal Controls/Internal Audit) is essential.
- Engage with stakeholders across the business, working independently and collaboratively.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead responses to National Audit Office (NAO) and Public Accounts Committee (PAC) reports.
- Handle Freedom of Information (FOI) and Parliamentary Questions (PQ) requests.
- Monitor actions from the Government Internal Audit Agency (GIAA).
- Oversee the annual Accounting Officer System Statement process.
- Provide professional judgment and advice on improvement initiatives.
- Ensure the integrity of financial controls and audit trails.
- Document financial procedures and policies, providing training as needed.
- Manage internal and external stakeholders.
- Oversee service delivery and management information.
- Handle financial delegations and team inboxes.
- Support the business on financial control issues, ensuring compliance with government guidance.
- Review and improve processes, communicating changes and managing risks.
What you'll need to succeed
- Experience of control mapping exercises, either from Internal controls and/or Internal Audit perspective.
- Effective at decision making, using personal judgement and a range of sources to make a decision or create recommendations
- Fully qualified accountant
- Ability to problem solve; to identify problems, provide solutions and implement them
- Ability to identify the audit evidence required
- Understanding of Government finance guidance including application of Managing Public Money
