A leading transport and engineering business is seeking an experienced Finance Director to lead the finance function, ensuring the financial health and sustainability of the business. This strategic role involves financial planning, driving financial performance, providing commercial insight, and maintaining robust financial controls. The Finance Director will play a pivotal role in aligning financial strategies with the company’s overall objectives and long-term vision.

Day to Day of the role:

  • Develop and execute the company’s financial strategy in line with business goals.
  • Lead financial planning, including annual budgets, quarterly forecasts, and long-term corporate plans.
  • Provide financial analysis and projections to support strategic recommendations to the executive team.
  • Manage financial reporting, cash flow, treasury, and working capital.
  • Offer commercial insights to enhance business performance and support decision-making.
  • Evaluate business cases, capital investments, acquisitions, and strategic initiatives.
  • Identify financial risks and ensure compliance with statutory requirements.
  • Lead and develop the finance team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Engage with stakeholders, including auditors, banks, and regulatory bodies.
  • Partner with operational teams to drive efficiency and cost control.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with significant post-qualification experience.
  • Extensive senior finance leadership experience within a large, complex organisation.
  • Proven ability to deliver strategic financial leadership and influence at the board level.
  • Strong financial planning, analysis, and commercial finance experience.
  • Experience managing large finance teams and driving performance and development.
  • Expertise in financial management, corporate finance, and financial reporting.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to provide actionable insights.
  • Experience in the transport industry is desirable but not essential.
