Robertson Bell are seeking an experienced Financial Operations Manager to lead a high-performing finance transactions team. This is a key role within a large impactful charity, where you will ensure the accurate and timely processing of financial transactions while driving process improvements and maintaining compliance with statutory and internal regulations.

As the Financial Operations Manager, you will:

  • Lead a team of over ten, including direct management of three team leaders across payroll, accounts payable, and receivable functions.
  • Collaborate with senior stakeholders to enhance systems, mitigate risks, and ensure robust financial controls are in place.
  • Play a central role in year-end audits, liaising with external auditors and resolving inquiries promptly.
  • Develop and deliver training to staff and stakeholders on financial systems, effective management, and compliance.
  • Review and enhance financial systems and processes to ensure they remain effective and up to date.
  • Ensure adherence to internal policies, statutory requirements, and best practices.
  • Serve as a point of escalation for complex financial and operational issues, ensuring timely resolution.
  • Produce clear reports and recommendations for senior stakeholders on financial matters.
  • Oversee all third-party payments, VAT returns and month-end reconciliations.

This permanent Financial Operations Manager will inherit a well-established team and will report into the Financial Controller. The role will be based from their central London office and require three days per week of office working. The successful postholder will benefit from a range of perks including over 30 days of annual leave plus bank holidays!

What We’re Looking For:

  • Proven ability to manage financial operations, lead teams, and implement process improvements.
  • Strong understanding of payroll, accounts payable, VAT, and reconciliation processes. Proficient with financial systems and advanced Excel.
  • Demonstrated experience managing teams, fostering development, and driving results.
  • Exceptional ability to communicate complex financial concepts to diverse audiences effectively.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to design and implement solutions for complex challenges.
