Group Finance Director | Global Scaling Post-Production Agency | London/Hybrid

Harmonic are delighted to be partnering exclusively with an exciting, global post- production group in their search for a Group Finance Director.

The Business

Our client is a renowned post-production house with a global presence, known for contributing to culture-defining projects with major clients including Sky, Netflix, and Disney. Their slate of editors and creatives is unrivalled, leading them to win major bids for massive projects year on year. Having successfully scaled into the US market and expanded the business to different revenue streams, this multi-entity group has an exciting future ahead of them.

The company operates a hybrid working policy with 3 days expected within their Central London offices, and 2 at home. With a global headcount of around 120, they foster a strong community culture within the business, with everyone bonding over their shared passion for the creative industries. This is the ideal role for someone who wants to work in a creative, non-corporate environment that values collaboration, teamwork, and shares a passion for innovative, creative projects.

The Role:

As Finance Director, you'll oversee the day to day running of the finance and accounting function of the business in both the UK and the US and support on the strategic and commercial development of the business.

Reporting to a passionate and talented founder/Managing Director, this role provides a great, broad, and dynamic opportunity for a technically strong Finance Director to contribute to the impressive scale up journey of an exciting TV and Film business. You'd have full oversight of the US and UK finance function, providing you with valuable international exposure and scale-up experience as this SME continues to grow.

The ideal candidate for this role will have previous financial leadership experience ideally in an SME or scale up with a knowledge of the media industry. A passion for media and TV and Film is important, as it's the crux of the business' culture. In addition, the ideal candidate will have both strong technical accounting skills as well as the ability to communicate efficiently with the Board, creatives, and other internal stakeholders. This is a broad commercial and technical role, so it's a great opportunity for a Finance Director to get involved in all aspects of a dynamic and fast-growth business.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the finance function for both the US and UK offices
  • Supervise 3 direct reports, providing them with guidance, support, and mentorship
  • Monitor working capital and cashflow for multiple entities internationally
  • Create budgets and forecasts for the business to account for future growth and expansion
  • Oversee the completion of Management Accounts, Month End, and Year End
  • Lead on financial and board reporting
  • Business partner with creatives and Heads of Department across the business, working closely with the CEO and MD
  • Liaise with external auditors
  • Oversee HR and IT departments
  • Ad hoc tasks to support the Senior Leadership Team

What we need to see (essential):

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA, CIMA, ACCA)
  • Previous experience in a leadership role
  • Strong stakeholder management skills
  • A passion for media and entertainment

What we'd like to see (bonus):

  • Previous experience in an SME
  • Previous experience in the media industry

Working Pattern: 3 days in-office, 2 days WFH
