Based in Central London, a highly respected global organisation in the Education sector seeks a Group Technical Reporting Manager to join their team, initially on a 12m FTC to start asap with a hybrid (3/2) working pattern.

This position will provide active oversight and assistance with the regions with respect to technical financial reporting matters, incorporating responsibility over accounting policy, assessment on M&A opportunities and integration and global accounting policy adoption for new rules and standards. The Group Technical Reporting Manager will provide technical accounting expertise and knowledge with respect to IFRS, with responsibility for setting accounting policies in conjunction with the Group Financial Controller and maintain oversight over the adoption and compliance with those policies. The role sits within the Group Reporting team and supports the wider team with the technical reporting requirements of the Group.

Responsibilities To Include: -

  • Updates on developments in IFRS.
  • Technical accounting review of significant and unusual transactions.
  • Provision of IFRS training.
  • Effective and efficient resolution of accounting policy issues, with assistance from the Group Financial Controller and the Group Accounting Manager.
  • Timely communication of key issues and decisions with the Group Financial Controller and CFO, including formal updates through Group Accounting Issues meetings and a Group Accounting Issues tracker.
  • Regular discussion on IFRS developments.
  • Review as needed of the accounting of significant or unusual transactions.
  • Provision of IFRS training on hot topics where required, e.g. revenue recognition.
  • Seeking technical assistance from external auditors where required and sharing of significant contract accounting papers.
  • Group Accounting Issues meetings and tracker in place to communicate accounting issues formally.

Candidate Skill Requirements: -

  • ACA/ACCA qualified.
  • Experienced manager at a large global accounting firm, or equivalent senior experience within a technical accounting team of a global/multinational organisation.
  • Experience with resolving complex counting issues and transactions.
  • Excellent written and oral English communication skills.
  • Ability to challenge and influence management.
  • Highly analytical.
  • Excellent accounting policy knowledge, in particular IFRS.
  • Application of accounting policy to complex contracts and acquisitions.
  • Candidates with experience working within the Education sector will have an advantage, though this isn’t a pre-requisite.
