Our client, a prestigious banking brand who has been situated in the UK for nearly 50 years, is seeking a new Head of Finance to support their CFO and manage/enhance the financial control function, leading, mentoring the wider finance team at their London HQ.

Job Purpose

  • Managing Financial Control Function - Lead and mentor the finance team, fostering a culture of professional development and continuous improvement.
  • Oversee the preparation and analysis of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with IFRS
  • Manage the Bank's accounting practices, financial reporting, and internal controls to safeguard financial integrity.
  • Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and systems to enhance efficiency and maintain compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Coordinate the budgeting process and provide financial forecasts, variance analysis, and strategic recommendations to CFO for review.
  • Conduct financial analysis to assess business performance, profitability, and opportunities for growth.
  • Ensure timely preparation of regulatory reports and compliance with all relevant legislation, including Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA) requirements for review and approval of CFO.
  • Act as a main liaise with external auditors during annual audits to ensure that audit process is smooth and completes within the approved timelines set by the Board Audit and Compliance Committee
  • Provide regular updates to CFO during external audit process
  • Ensure that Statutory Accounts are prepared to a high standard along with relevant disclosures
  • Keep updating the IFRS requirements and new implementations
  • Preparation and supervision of Management Accounts
  • Manage all Group reports related to Finance function
  • Supervision of Group Risk and Liquidity Reporting
  • Preparation of ICAAP and RRP for review of CFO
  • Work with Treasury function to complete ILAAP
  • Coordinate with respective functions and prepare finance related data for various committees such as EXCO, ARCC, BRC and BACC
  • Supervision of Corporate Tax and VAT returns and coordinate with External Consultants in all tax related matters
  • Coordinating with Product and Analytics function in preparation of various MIS
  • Assistance to CFO in BOD meetings (Finance related)
  • Managing MI Pack preparation for ALCO, Management Accounts, etc.
  • Review, verify and analyse the IRRBB results derived from Model maintained by the Parent Bank.
  • Liaise with Internal Audit function in managing review of Finance function

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • As a certified person you should have particular regard to the following responsibilities:
  • Review and ensure timely submission of all Regulatory Returns
  • Monthly Management Accounts
  • Quarterly, Half Yearly and Yearly Statutory Financial Statements (IFRS Based)
  • Review and ensure timely submission of Group Risk Reporting
  • Conducting ALCO meeting being the secretary of the committee. Preparation and review of ALCO Pack
  • Prepare and provide EXCO, BRC, BACC and ARCC pack information
  • Assistance in preparation and updating Business Plan, ICAAP, ILAAP and RRP
  • Review and ensure timely submission of VAT return
  • Annual Corporate Tax Computation and Submission of Return
  • Staff training and development
  • Analytical Reviews
  • MI Reports including MBR and other ad-hoc matters.
