The Client

Harmonic is thrilled to be partnering with an innovative PropTech startup that's transforming how institutional investors access, invest in, and manage residential real estate. Leveraging a cutting-edge platform powered by AI and human expertise, this business is redefining deal sourcing, investment management, and asset management in a rapidly evolving market.

Following a successful funding round backed by leading venture capital firms, the company is scaling rapidly. In 2024, they more than doubled their team size and acquired a high-profile asset management business with significant AUM.

As they expand, they are looking for a talented and ambitious finance leader to join as their first finance hire. This is a rare opportunity to build out a finance function in a fast-paced, high-growth environment while playing a key role in shaping the company's future.

The Role

The Head of Finance will report directly to the Founder/CEO and take full ownership of the finance department, spanning operational finance, strategic planning, and business partnering. You'll work closely with the leadership team to drive growth and scalability, ensuring that finance becomes a cornerstone of the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish and lead a best-in-class finance function, with a focus on process improvements and operational efficiency.
  • Own all aspects of financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, and management reporting.
  • Collaborate with external accountants to ensure compliance with UK GAAP and timely preparation of financial statements.
  • Develop and implement robust internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Provide insightful financial analysis to support strategic decision-making, including the development of key metrics.
  • Present financial performance and projections to the leadership team and board.
  • Support negotiations with external stakeholders, including finance partners and suppliers.
  • Drive process automation and improvements to enable the business to scale effectively.

What our client would like to see (essential):

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA, or equivalent).
  • Strong financial acumen and experience with UK financial reporting and compliance.
  • Proficient in Excel or Google Sheets with excellent analytical skills.
  • Proven ability to thrive in fast-paced, high-growth environments.
  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence cross-functionally.
  • Detail-oriented with a proactive mindset and a track record of driving continuous improvement.

Bonus Experience (non essential):

  • Fluency in French (B2 or higher) and familiarity with French GAAP would be beneficial as they have a Paris office but isn't a requirement.
  • Experience with cross-country accounting in the EU.
  • Background in SaaS, investment banking, or management consulting.
  • Previous experience in a startup or scale-up environment.
  • Exposure to accounting software and BI tools.

Salary: £75,000 to £90,000 + benefit
